Aidan O’Connor is in his third year at the Eastman School of Music working towards a degree in Jazz and Contemporary Media. Aidan began his studies under the tutelage of Ed Palermo and Mike Lee, both prominent New Jersey jazz performers and educators. While focusing on the tenor saxophone, he also plays the alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, flute and clarinet in Eastman Ensembles.
Aidan is enjoying Rochester’s growing jazz scene having performed under his own name as well as a sideman. In addition to being an in demand saxophonist he has performed outside of the genera as a flautist with the Empire Film Music Ensemble and as a multi-woodwind instrumentalist with multiple theater groups in New Jersey.
This past summer Aidan was asked to play on the main stage of the Xerox International Jazz Festival along with other rising leaders of Eastman’s Jazz department. He has performed under the direction of Dennis Diblassio, Rodney Whitacre, Dave Rivello, Ali Jackson, Jeff Campbell and Tim Haggins. Aidan was a member of the award winning 2016 Eastman New Jazz Ensemble Directed by Dave Rivello and is excited to continue his musical career in Rochester.
